The Unbreakable Chain: Blockchain

“One day, inside a fennel stalk, I stole the seed of fire and carried it off to humankind. This seed became the key to all the arts; it opened every road to humankind. That is my crime against the gods, and for that I was put in chains beneath these skies.” (Prometheus Bound, Aeschylus).

By Dr. Nurfer TERCAN

The Olympians, having defeated the Titans, share out the universe among themselves. The time has now come to find a way through the disagreements with humans and to announce that the way they have found is the only one, with no alternative.  And at once the immortals and mortal humans gather at Mekone.

Society is a web of relations, and the dominant form of communication of each period determines the structure of that society. In the process of human socialisation, the attitudes and behaviours displayed in line with the prevailing forms of communication become permanent over time and change the individual’s and society’s perception of the world and way of life.

Knowledge, in the process running from Mythology to the Enlightenment and from the Enlightenment to the present day. A means that Prometheus “stole” from the gods and to which Bacon attributed “power”. Does the account, told through the legend of Prometheus, of the struggle for knowledge/fire and of its being taken without permission or “stolen” describe the pragmatic state of knowledge today, or does Prometheus wish to indicate that Knowledge is the FREE fundamental Power that cannot be Chained? Did Prometheus steal knowledge, or did he want to prove that, growing free and setting free, it is infinite?

Just as we were tasting the joy of having managed to become a full Information society, PANDORA’s box was opened, the water pitcher broke on the way to the water, and this freedom was short-lived. For they passed an unbreakable chain around knowledge, and in this way they were able to start the process of the simulative-cyber society, its end uncertain!

The flatteners made it possible to connect through the network to information centres from anywhere in the world, to access information at the global level and to share information, but under the laws of the unbreakable chain!

In French, Chaos (chaos) is the state of absolute disorder; in Greek, the great void, the opening, the abyss… According to Lorenz (1963), the creator of chaos theory, chaos is a well-structured order that behaves randomly. Chaos emerges when Lorenz, examining weather forecast results in 1960, discovers that a change in the initial data produces significant results. The discovery that defines chaotic systems, that is, that twists our lives from one shape into another, dashes us from pillar to post and cannot settle on a colour from the whole spectrum of colours. Lorenz develops his discovery by stating that in chaotic systems change stays within certain limits and that the movements of change are indeterminable. Nor does he neglect to explain the foci of probability that, in chaotic systems, pull the changes towards themselves. These foci are called chaotic attractors. These attractors are also called strange attractors, and they are expressed graphically as well. The most famous of these attractors, the one we know best, is the butterfly-shaped Lorenz attractor.

In the early days of the pandemic of mask your lives and take shelter in your homes, with production coming largely to a halt, especially in China, the global supply chain of the health sector broke. The intertwined supply chains of the Flat World came apart at their links when the borders were closed, and snapped where they had worn thin. It was not only the chain that broke; it was the labour force, swiftly ending in unemployment, and, together with food, the severing of breath from life.

Covid the 19th, which put on the guise of the butterfly-shaped Lorenz and seeped into the homes we could not fit into, taught us, beyond its vaccines, that in technology and clinical research knowledge is the most valuable treasure. What came before were the times when we thought nothing of money and bowed down before the Dollar, when we squandered knowledge savagely and did not know its worth, times whose value we understand now and cannot find.

Industry needs a secure database at points such as the clinical trials before a product is commercialised, supply chain control, product verification and quality control. And the secure database, in the rapidly growing world of data, needs an UNBREAKABLE CHAIN. Blockchain technology, a distributed and decentralised digitised ledger of transactions that records data in a way that prevents data loss and manipulation, is now our new way of life. Even though we do not yet know how we are going to live…!

Imagine a long record of data that is replicated on millions of machines and stays on those machines day and night. The new form of our Normal, which is not what it used to be: it is known to have been founded in late 2008 by a person or group under the name Satoshi Nakamoto. According to another whisper, it is also said that the word Nakamoto is made up of the initial letters of four Asian technology giants. In the new system you no longer need to trust a bank in order to find out how much money you have or to send money to whomever you wish. Blockchain promises to carry out these transactions faster, more cheaply and more accurately than ever before. In this new system of recording and, most important of all, of certifying, we shall learn by living through it how indispensable the very far-reaching effect of information is in the financial services sector.

When, a few years from now, we look back at our normal put in chains, which we do not yet know, we shall find ourselves in the new temple of the belief that the technology of the UNBREAKABLE CHAIN is a data revolution!

Father, Son, Holy Spirit – CODE : In blockchain-based services the importance of programming ability will go on increasing. CODing will always win the arguments, and it will be placed inside the UNBREAKABLE CHAIN without the inclusion of any personal decision-making procedure.

Immutability: Everledger is the name of a fraud detection system used in the diamond trading industry. By adding reasonable contracts to the ledger, the origin and history of the product can be guaranteed, and fraud and illegal trade can be prevented. With accountability at this level, employees are enabled to see the company as it is, and not merely according to the image it tries to create. In the business environment of the future, the reputation of companies will become a more important tool than ever for attracting new talent.

The principle of transparent working: Project Provenance Ltd, which already runs operations in several different industries, has created a system that anyone can use to guarantee, by means of blockchain technology, the origin of every kind of product from coffee beans to fabric. This level of transparency, which holds for blockchain solutions, also means that from now on companies will have to attain a certain level of accountability in their work.

Self-executing contracts: EOS, founded in 2017, is an operating system. Here various applications can be activated through smart contracts that operate according to predetermined rules. In the future, software developers may put pressure on lawyers to use this operating system. For contracts based on data will begin to trust algorithms more than human beings.

Earning a living peer to peer: Steemit is a social network developed using blockchain technology. Those who produce content on this network earn “tokens” in return for the work they do. Companies working with a token structure brings out the income of those who create value, and this means that people can sustain their own lives in a peer-to-peer environment without being tied to a company.

“The rising power of the flexible economy” of the life squeezed into the home: The fact that smart contracts make the “pay instantly” revolution easier will also help to strengthen the “flexible economy” system, which allows freelancers to work only in the hours when there is consumer demand. If, on waking up in the morning, you can follow that day’s work routine according to your own abilities with the help of a smart contract, why should you stay tied to a single employer? The economy made up of short-term contracts and freelance workers has grown all over the world in the past 10 years. (According to the 2016 study by L.Katz and A.Krueger) it showed growth of 50 per cent in the USA alone. The most basic motivations put forward for entering the flexible economy system stand out as being able to work flexibly and being able to keep one’s work-life balance more comfortably.

The End of Those Who Have Made a Profession of the Commission System : When the records of an activity can be kept transparently and securely, intermediaries will have to work harder and harder to show their own value.  In a world where blockchain has become widespread, intermediaries will begin to lose their meaning as the person who must be turned to as a trusted go-between through whom information is confirmed. For one-to-one communication will not be as risky as it currently is on the internet.

Mechanised truths: In a society where trust in the traditional sources of authority has diminished, new ways of building commercial integrity and trust have come to be resorted to more often. Thanks to blockchain technology, a future in which truth is more concrete and mechanical will be possible. New relationships will be able to be formed among companies, employees and customers.

Closing the gap: New institutional structures will emerge that create a seamless relationship between those who produce value and those who benefit from that value, and that strive for this. The glad tidings that people will be able to be their own bosses! Like being both the owner and the driver of the Uber vehicle…

The wind of Chaos theory between the wings of the butterfly, “The use of cryptocurrencies” : Chaotic systems are non-linear, sensitive to initial conditions, dimensionless, possessed of strange attractors, and universal. Bitcoin, whose popularity has been growing of late and which is the most established cryptocurrency! You know, the red digi of which Masked Elon said: “think nothing of money, come, put your investments into “Bitekoyin”, with a mulberry grove on Mars thrown in free”. The first cryptocurrency released as open source and based on blockchain technology.

The advantage of cryptocurrencies is that they are decentralised structures and do not need a central bank. Thanks to this, transaction costs are much lower. Cryptocurrencies are based on cryptography (the science of encryption). Cryptology: a money defined as digital or virtual that uses the technology of cryptography (encryption), employed in the creation of money and in ensuring the reliability of the transactions carried out. It is said that, because of the security criteria, it is impossible for cryptocurrency to be deciphered and that it is therefore very secure.  The unbreakable chain is defined as a distributed database that provides encrypted tracking of transactions.

Ah, Prometheus! Do you know, the human being has now abandoned the desire to realise the representation of reality; some of us have chosen to be an actor that can be designed in a Digital world where reality does not exist at all, and some of us are in chains. And the latest bright child of the Digi world is AI! Although on its Digi identity card, issued by its e-state, it officially bears the name artificial intelligence, among ourselves we call it Virtual Intelligence, for now. All the decisions of our lives are now taken by “BIG DATA”, which then informs us. The electricity we shall use each day, our communication time and the language we use, the letters included, are in its hands. The water we shall drink each day and the amount of the kind of food we shall take keep changing; our way of life is surrendered to the BiG Data CoDE application…

“There you are, a whole heap of shiny, rounded words! That is just how one who is called a servant of the gods should speak. You new ones have set up a new rule, and you think no troubles can enter your fortress; but I have seen two kings driven from that fortress, turned out of doors, and the third, who is the master of today’s world, these eyes of mine will see him too driven out in the greatest shame.”

The sky thunders once more and the cliffs come crashing down. Prometheus vanishes from sight together with the daughters of Okeanos.
