On 21 September, at the Rixos President Astana hotel, the Department of Tourism organised a report on the results of the summer internship of students of speciality 5B090200 – “Tourism” for the 2017 – 2018 academic year.
L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University has been cooperating with the branch of Fine Otel Turizm İşletmecilik JSC (Rixos President Astana) since 2008. As a continuation of this bilateral mutual cooperation, a conference was held on the report on the completed educational and work internship of 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-year students of the “Tourism” speciality.
As part of the final report, papers and presentations were prepared and defended. In particular, the 1st year defended the training hike at the Tumar educational and health centre in the village of Zerenda; 2nd-year students completed their work internship at the 5-star hotels Hilton Astana, Rixos President Astana, Marriott Astana and St. Regis, at the tour operator Kazunion, and at the “ALZHIR” museum, successfully defending their presentations on the experience gained during the work internship. The 3rd years successfully defended their latest reports on the international internship in the city of Omsk and the educational internship in the city of Almaty.
In addition, this year an exhibition of photographs covering all types of internship was held and aroused particular interest.
The conference was attended by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Economics S.K. Tazhikenova, the Head of the Department of Tourism A.A. Duisembayev, the department’s internship supervisor B.Zh. Sharapayeva, lecturers and 1st-year students, the head of the internship section of the “Career and Business Partnership” department U.K. Kilibayeva and chief specialist Kabira Mausymbayeva, as well as the General Manager of Rixos President Astana Mr Tansel Tercan and other heads of department.
At the close of the conference, the Head of the Department of Tourism A.A. Duisembayev, on behalf of the staff of the Department of Tourism, expressed his gratitude to the management and staff of the Rixos President Astana hotel for their active participation in organising the conference, and also wished the students good luck.
