Tansel Tercan, General Manager of Rixos Belek Premium, stated that they had a good season in 2010. Tercan gave the following information:
“I hope it went well not only for us but for Türkiye. There is satisfaction everywhere. It was a successful year for us. Starting from May and running to the end of October, an average of 94 percent…
GUESTS FROM 94 COUNTRIES AT THE SAME TIME…
The UK market in particular became very active. In June, during the meeting of the International Sports Press Association, we hosted guests from 94 countries at the same time. On average we had a profile of around 55 to 60 countries. We aim to keep people from different cultures together and to please them all.
WE ARE IN COMPETITION WITH OURSELVES
Do not misunderstand me, but we are in competition with ourselves. Comparing this with that is not appropriate for us. We want to compete according to what we ourselves believe to be right.
THEY ASK WHY WE DO NOT GIVE DISCOUNTS
We have never run special offers, and we have carried on according to our contracts. We drew reactions from the agencies as the only hotel that made no concessions this year. Everyone is giving discounts, they ask, so why aren’t you?
WE DO NOT FALL FOR THE ECONOMIC GAME
We trust our product and ourselves. That is why we do not fall for the economic game. Everyone is behaving as if in a state of panic. We are in the same industry. There are those who use this well, and those who misuse it… But in the end everyone is eating from the same pie. “
Emphasising that within their own organisation they made no concessions on discounts, Tercan said: “ Otherwise, if you trust your product, the thing that will keep you at your highest value is your price.”
COLLEAGUES WHO LEFT ARE WEARING OUT OUR DOORSTEP
Noting that a great many hotels open every year, Tercan said: “Every hotel that opens without training staff harms tourism. Some colleagues want to consider the offers they receive. They leave, and then they see that the happiness here is found nowhere else. Then they struggle to come back. So we watched this process for a year or two. This year we saw the following. All the colleagues who had left tried to wear out our doorstep in order to come back. We took some of our valued colleagues back into our organisation, and to some we had to say thank you.”
