Archaeologists from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) made a first field survey in the Ereymentau district of the Akmola region on 23-24 July 2024. Research planned for the area was then discussed at an online meeting of professors from Kazakhstan and Türkiye. The Akmyrza site was reported to hold monuments ranging from the Bronze Age to the late Middle Ages, including burials of the Saka and Turkic periods.
Tansel Tercan, PhD, professor and General Manager of Rixos President Astana, and Nurfer Tercan, professor at ENU’s Department of Sociology, also took part. The work is conducted under an agreement on studying the cultural heritage of Ereymentau signed in July 2024 between ENU and the tour operator Pegas Kazakhstan.
